What the API provides
The Conversations API is designed for practice sessions in which a learner selects a situation and responds in their own words to up to five AI characters. The characters have distinct personalities, while a Coach provides guidance during each turn.
Developers can create custom practice rooms or use 100 ready-made rooms across eight categories. The reported interaction model includes characters whose reactions and moods change as the conversation develops, with optional expressions and presence states such as stepping away or leaving the room.
The API also supports optional spoken responses, with the cast available in 10 languages and the Coach in English. These capabilities are described by ForeverLearning AI and reported in the launch announcement; the source does not establish that the interactions produce better workplace performance.
From practice session to learning record
A session can be saved for replay and debrief. The announcement says the debrief shows how characters’ responses changed and that the Coach helps the learner consider the next move during the conversation.
Session continuity and saved preferences allow a learner to return to previous practice, while observations across sessions can direct attention to significant moments. Export and deletion are included in the API description, which is relevant for products that need to manage learner records and retention policies.
This makes the service more than a single-turn chatbot endpoint. It supplies a packaged practice workflow that includes room setup, streamed responses, playback, debriefs and insights. Whether those outputs meet an organization’s assessment, records-management or compliance requirements remains unverified.
Integration and commercial boundaries
Integration is described as a three-step process: prepare a room and its controls, open the room and stream learner turns, then read the saved practice, debrief and insights. The provider supplies TypeScript, Python and cURL examples, an OpenAPI contract and a retry method for dropped connections.
The host application retains its own screens, user journey and relationship with users, while ForeverLearning AI runs the room, Coach and saved practice. That model could support learning services delivered through an existing application rather than requiring learners to work in a separate practice product.
The announcement lists text usage at $0.03 per billable turn and optional spoken responses at $0.08 per turn in total. Self-service access is described for adults in the United States and Canada, excluding Quebec. Institutional and children’s use requires an agreement, and health uses are excluded. These restrictions matter before any enterprise pilot is scoped.
