SAP SuccessFactors Learning AI and agents: what should teams prepare for in 2H 2026?

SAP's Learning AI direction combines conversational help with agents for specific learning tasks. The important background to the 2H 2026 release watch is what those components are intended to do and which parts the cited material still describes as roadmap.

Keep roadmap plans separate from tenant evidence. Roadmap: Record the planned feature and its stated availability. Preview: Check configuration and behaviour in your tenant. Dependencies: Identify access, data and implementation requirements. Decision: Plan adoption only around behaviour you have verified.

From answering a question to coordinating a task

SAP's 1H 2026 material discusses Intelligent Q&A and a Learning Compliance Agent. The separate SAP Learning lesson describes a broader Learning Assistant that coordinates named agents, rather than presenting every learning task as one general-purpose conversation.

The lesson names Learning Assignment, Learning Compliance Management, Learning Skills and Learning Journey agents. Assignment concerns who receives learning; compliance concerns progress, deadlines and blockers; skills work draws on Talent Intelligence Hub profiles. The Journey agent sits within that proposed coordinated learning experience. These descriptions explain the planned scope, rather than establish a production outcome for each component.

The assistant and the agents have different roles

In the documented direction, the assistant is the entry point and orchestrator. Individual agents have task-specific responsibilities. That distinction matters because answering a learner's question and changing an assignment are different operations, even if both begin with natural language.

The source lesson describes assignment preview, approval and reversal as part of its roadmap account. A proposed workflow can therefore be understood before it can be relied on: a request leads to a proposed action, with controls around the resulting change. It should not be read as evidence that those controls are already configured in a customer's tenant.

Why release and population context matter

SAP's release calendar places Preview on 12 October and production in mid-November. A calendar establishes a checkpoint for inspecting release-specific documentation and tenant behaviour; it does not make every previously described agent generally available.

The cited support material also distinguishes standard Learning from Validated Learning timing and notes a mobile limitation for Joule in Validated Learning apps. The body of evidence therefore describes related developments with different availability boundaries. The preparation guidance below follows from that distinction.

This explanation draws on Introducing Learning Assistants and Agents, Mobile Learning – Joule and Validated Learning Apps, SAP SuccessFactors Product Release & Road Map, First Half 2026 Release: Agentic AI in SAP SuccessFactors Learning, AI in Human Capital Management: AI Overview and AI Agents Showcase. The evidence limits and publication history remain below.

Source review · 12 October 2026

Learning agents are restricted to Early Adopter Care

SAP’s current training documentation identifies the Learning Assistant, Learning Assignment Agent, Learning Compliance Management Agent and Learning Skills Agent as part of Early Adopter Care (EAC), available only to participating customers. The 2H 2026 Preview release does not establish general availability for these capabilities.

The Assignment Agent translates natural-language requests into assignment-profile rules and previews the affected learners before approval. The Compliance Management Agent supports compliance queries, reminders and approval actions. The Skills Agent compares Talent Intelligence Hub profiles with expected proficiency and proposes learning that a manager can review and assign.

Before proposing a pilot, confirm EAC participation, entitlement, configuration dependencies and permissions for the target tenant. Test audience selection and approval boundaries with controlled learner data. Documented functionality is a basis for testing; it does not establish measured customer outcomes.

LT Horizon DECISION BRIEF
Answer

SAP SuccessFactors 2H 2026 Preview is scheduled for 12 October, with production in mid-November. The cited SAP material describes a Learning Assistant and four named agents as roadmap. Use Preview to check which features are visible, configurable and testable in your tenant. Keep planned features separate from confirmed availability.

Who should care

SAP SuccessFactors Learning owners, HRIT leads, Learning consultants, compliance owners, skills leads, IAM teams and customers planning Joule or agent-enabled Learning.

Recommended action

ACT — create a 2H 2026 Learning AI release-watch checklist now and update it on 12–14 October with evidence from Preview and SAP release material. Publish confirmed behaviour separately from roadmap speculation.

What changed

The release is now close enough that roadmap discussion should become a structured release watch. SAP has also scheduled an AI in human capital management session on 14 October that explicitly says it will cover things to look forward to in the H2 2026 release.

Why it matters

Preview is the next opportunity to check what is available. Record features you can test, features still planned and features that depend on edition, entitlement or configuration.

Implementation implications

Prerequisites

Prepare a Preview test tenant and named owners for Learning, Joule, compliance, skills, identity and permissions. Capture the current-state baseline before 12 October so behaviour changes can be compared rather than inferred.

Architecture implications

If agents can change assignments or use compliance and skills data, they need the same access controls as the people performing those tasks. Test permissions and source-data quality before granting access.

Risks

SAP may change scope, timing or terminology before production. Announced agents are not equivalent to confirmed general availability. Standard Learning and Validated Learning may follow different release timing.

Testing implications

In Preview, verify which agents or assistant experiences are actually visible; test supported personas, assignments, compliance due dates, skills data, permissions, recommendations, false positives, unsupported scenarios and fallbacks to normal Learning workflows.
